Greenville-based Sage Automotive Interiors (USA) has recently announced its acquisition of Florence-based Apollo S.p.A (Tuscany, Italy), a specialized manufacturer of automotive fabrics and sewn covers. Details of the acquisition were not disclosed.

“Europe remains a key growth area for Sage Automotive Interiors,” said Dirk Pieper, CEO of Sage Automotive Interiors, in the release. “In addition, the technology and capabilities that will now be part of Sage Automotive Interiors will strengthen our ability to serve customers from our current locations in Europe and the rest of the world.”

Apollo was founded in 1969 as a producer of upholstery fabrics. The company entered the automotive market in 1986, according to the release. Apollo is located in Florence, Italy and has a plant in Bucharest, Romania. [continue reading]
