Essity (ex Sca), a paper giant for hygienic and domestic use with three production plants in Tuscany (two in the province of Lucca and one in Pistoia), announces 47 million euro investments in the Altopascio factory that produces napkins. The investment of the company, whit brands such as Tena, Nuvenia, Tempo and Tork, aims to upgrade the plant in Lucca (215 employees) with the installation of 11 new production lines that will make it a center of European excellence.

The Altopascio plant, the note states, will be able to “increase its production capacity and make its range of products (white and coloured) more competitive in Europe, thanks to a more efficient supply chain”. The overall investment plan for Italy also provides for the outplacement and professional updating of some company employees.

For Antonio Zanframundo, Essity’s Italy Operations Director, “this centre of excellence is the answer to the growing demand of the HoReCa segment and our consolidation in the European market as a competitive and reliable supplier of high quality napkins”.
