Robotics in all its applications is the protagonist of the first international festival, hosted in Pisa, Italy, from the 7th to the 13th of September 2017, in the city which boasts one of the highest concentrations in the world of robotic systems workers, research activities, development and applications. Pisa, the city of science, has united in a common front to guarantee the success of this first year of the international festival of robotics, supported by the Arpa Foundation, the BioRobotic Institute of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, the ‘E. Piaggio’ Research Centre of the University of Pisa, and the Municipality of Pisa. Among the scientific co-supporters are the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, the University of Pisa Scuola Normale Superiore, the National Council of Research, IRCSS Stella Maris, and the University of Pisa’s Endocas Centre of Excellence.

Within the programme there are seminars, conferences, demonstrations, displays, artistic exhibitions and teaching laboratories for students (beginning from elementary school) to guarantee a complete and up to date panorama of robotics reasearch, production and applications which, faithful to the robotics mission, are put at the service of mankind. Among the numerous events, which will see the participation of a number of international leaders in the field of robotics, are those dedicated to art and displays; the teaching of surgeons, who can use simulation systems to refine their training; sport and overcoming disability; industry and the fourth industrial revolution which, thanks to robotics, will improve the lives of workers, freeing them from dangerous, exhausting and debilitating tasks; connection to ethics and regulatory legislation; improvements in pharmaceutical logistics; and humanitarian cooperation and solidarity, for contributing to overcome inequality.
