Louis Vuitton, the French brand that gives the name to the holdings of luxury LVMH, enters into the most important world district of leather goods.
Vuitton has established its presence in the former leather producer “Reta” in Leccio, Reggello (Florence), which has produced, in the past years, for Gucci and Prada, and – as a first step – has opened a center for the development of the samples: a department that designs prototypes and employs 20 people.
The French brand has also already acquired in Reggello other 5,000 sqm, and prepares to directly launch there part of the production.
The choice of the location is explained by the skills rooted in this area of Tuscany, but it is not the only reason. In fact, close to Reggello, the French company Maroquinerie Thomas, one of the most important suppliers of leather goods of Louis Vuitton, few months ago has acquired the Tuscan B&G of Franco Baccani, a leathergoods producer that counts two establishments of luxury handbags at Lastra a Signa (Florence) and Cavriglia (Arezzo).
Leather represents one of the biggest areas of development and investments in Tuscany.
Always LVMH group (which controls among others Dior, Bulgari, Fendi, Givenchy, Kenzo, Céline, Marc Jacobs, Loro Piana, Emilio Pucci) is preparing to open a factory of bags Céline in Radda in Chianti (Siena) , where it has just acquired the property of the former furniture joinery Laca, in the locality of Villa Radda.
